Program Schedule

Semester 1

  • EDU 101 Introduction to ECE (7 weeks, 3 credits)
  • EDU 144 Child Behavior and Development (7 weeks, 3 credits)
  • EDU 146 Child Behavior & Guidance Practicum (14 weeks, 1 credit)

Semester 2

  • ENG 101 English Comp I (7 weeks, 3 credits)
  • EDU 141 Relationships, Families & Community (7 weeks, 3 credits)
  • EDU 147 Program Management, Health & Safety Practicum (14 weeks, 1 credit)

Semester 3

  • ENG 103 Creativity & Creative Experiences OR EDU 123 Infant & Toddler Care & Curriculum (14 weeks, 3 credits)
  • EDU 145 Curriculum in Early Childhood Settings Curriculum (14 weeks, 1 credit)

The children are the curriculum, the environment is a teacher.

At GCC you will learn innovative approaches and practices to teaching and learning that are rooted in the fundamentals of relationships, play, inquiry and communication. Our Early Childhood Education Lab is a unique adult learning space where you will experience how the design of classroom environments and use of materials impacts learning, emotions and behavior. Through hands-on interaction and collaboration you will strengthen your ability to create powerful experiences for young children.
